1990 / Things Here Are Different
This record is largely and unfortunately forgotten
as Jill's debut recording. Each song is strong, and
Jill's stories unfold within beautifully layered production
by Todd Rundgren.

1991 / The Missing Album
Not long after "Things Here Are Different"
Jill recorded a second complete album, this time with
Joe Jackson in the control room. When MCA dropped
her contract, she lost the rights to the masters and the album
was never released.

1995 / Jill Sobule
Some of the songs from the unreleased second album were
reworked for "Jill Sobule" in 1995. It's most commonly
and mistakenly considered her first, due mostly to the popularity
of "I Kissed A Girl" - which certainly earned her some notoriety.
This self titled outing was first released without the rocking
"Supermodel" track, but was hurriedly added when it was used
in Amy
Heckerling's "Clueless"
movie.

1997 / Happy Town
Jill's third album was met with praise from critics and
fans alike. She takes her turn behind the drum kits here too,
and still does so occasionally on tour. Biting satire has become
much more noticeable on this record, but radio play was sporadic
and she was once again dropped from her label.

2000 / Pink Pearl
Pink Pearl is the most recent (April 2000) full studio album
and was released through Beyond Records. It is filled with wonderful
stories and great musical hooks, but the mood here is much more
sombre and reflective, like Jill needed to get this off her
chest. Heartbreaking ballads must be autobiographical - yet
somehow sound sympathetic, as though she knows that her audience
has felt as she does. Or did.

Lloyd Cole And The
Negatives
In a category all by itself is the album Jill did as a member
of Lloyd
Cole's band, The Negatives. Recorded and released in
2000, the band still tours extensively in support
of the album, with Jill usually doing a solo warm up set.

2001 / I Never Learned
To Swim - Jill Sobule 1990 - 2000
This collection of songs is not really a Greatest Hits,
but listen to this one all the way through and you'll be left
wanting more. We can all hope that as word continues to spread
about this great talent, she will win more fans and the recognition
she deserves.
