Here's a portion of one of the notes I received from Dominique:

I e-mailed Jill before that concert. I told her in my message that I was an early fan since the "Things Here Are Different" and that as music programmer and radio producer, I always played her songs from all the record she released, because I liked them so much. She answered that message very kindly. The funny thing is that I saw her outside the venue, just after I parked my car, so I could already salute her before the show... She remembered my e-mail so we could start a little conversation, but I took the picture after the show.

I found at the time that those 3 incredibly enthusiastic German fans all sporting a T-shirt in connection with Jill Sobule and posing with their favorite artist were the most perfect picture. When I say they are enthusiastic, I mean it, man: they knew obviously every word of the songs she sang that night. And naturally they were following Jill's every move from the front stage!

Ok this picture was taken at a Lloyd Cole & The Negatives show on the 05/25/01 in Tongeren, Belgium at a place called "De Velinx". You see there three German Happytowners from left to right: Wolfgang, Jill, Stefan and Michael. The story how we got this picture is kind of a strange. So let´s start at the beginning. After the great show Wolfgang and me went to the bar to get some drinks. And suddenly a guy came up to us and said that he is a music producer and radio host and has been playing Jill since her first album in 1990.

30 minutes or so after the show and after a nice little chat with Jill we were all ready to leave the building and suddenly the guy came up again. As we later found out his name is Dominique. He asked us if he could do a photo of us with Jill.

And now the strange part of this story began.

Because those three little Jill fans from Germany were so excited that night, they forgot to ask Dominique to give them his E-mail addy or something else to contact him afterwards. Stefan even contacted some Belgian people who wrote something on Jill's official message board. but as it turned out they didn´t know something about a picture :-(

To make long story short, early February of 2002 I got an E-mail from Martin. And when opened the mail I just fell from my chair. Because the photo of us and Jill was attached. I mean I actually kind of forgot about it, and than this happened.

It turned out that Dominique send the picture to Martin, because well his webpage is kind of famous:-), I guess. And Martin just wanted to know who everyone is on the picture and send it to me, because he recognized me.

So the picture was made in Belgium, found its way to Canada and back to Germany. After we found out how this all happened Martin wrote this beautiful comment: "So - there you have it. Jill brings the world a little closer together and makes it a better place for us all..."

Dominique and Martin, thanks for making and sending the picture, a wonderful reminder of a beautiful night:-))))))))))))))
